Second the country ii live in for my year round holidays has not elected a 'socialist governance' they already have one, Lionel Jospin is the incharge of the government as PM, and Mr Chirac a right winger is the President of the Republic. He takes care of the external relations and broad policies, the government is run by the socialists since last three years. These new breed of socialists are more economically conservative than many on the left wing of the right..I hope you get that. What has actually happened is that finally after donkey number of years Paris have finally a socilaist Mayor. Paris, Mayor unlike NY Mayor has a prestige and power associated with it that goes beyond the prepherique, Mr. Chirac was the Mayor of Paris before being elected as the President, many of his rightist attempts to dislodge leftist Francois Mitterend were carried out form the Paris city hall. If that power of hte Primce minister is not enough to 'turn the flight of capital' off so far I don't think htat Mayor of Paris other than ceremonial and city hall plus political prestige will have anything more to do with French economic policy.. They are biggest proponents of the free markets and open Europe a Fderated Europe they allow flight at an unprecedented scale, they have learnt from thier mistakes like new Labour in UK this is new socialist France. Now, imagine if you would be a fund manager your natural inclination after 'mixing city of Paris' with 'Government of France' which is anyway Socialist since last three years would be to sell France! May be it is this kind of generalisation that we 'out of sort kind of guys' continue to see that all 'this selling is more rumor based' not fact, 'sell the rumor buy the facts' may finally come true..Take care this Atlantic thing even when I am in US drives a huge wedge in my global understanding, I can see that across Atlantic things can be interpreted so differently..
