This reminds me of years ago when we heard a lot of carriers complain about not having the bandwidth they needed. They admitted, at the time, that they should have laid more fiber when they had the chance but at the time they laid it people were saying there would be too much "dark fiber".

Consumer demand always catches up with what has been laid. Especially now as we slowly start to push fiber toward the home. The applications are endless - on demand wall size TV and conferences over the net, etc

For some crazy reason the media has decided the deployment of fiber optics is grinding to a halt and therefore we are faced with a future of "dark fiber". If anything, deployment is simply shifting downstream toward the user which will really put a demand on the system.
