"So you sold on Axxel's downgrade in January '00(?)"
No,I waited a couple weeks until msft hit 120 & backed off to 116, post 37172, axxel's sell post 36569. Like many great calls Axxel was a little early, if one can call 2 weeks early after approx.15 yrs of going up, but he probably don't keep his nose glued to his screen 6 1/2 hours a day making short term trades. MSFT had went up from it's IPO until Jan 2000, none of the members of this thread saw the Royal Flush coming. Go back to that time and read some of the post.
<"sell to avoid interpretation"> Sell would obviously mean sell, Upgrade to avoid would means things are getting better, OK to short term trade but it's not going up long term any time soon.
<If you did'nt act on upgrade> The way I use analyst calls is I have my own list of stocks and if I concur with what they say it will enforce my decision to trade. I do my own dd. Most of the stocks I trade I have been monitoring for years, over time one notices seasonal plays, news plays one of which when Ballmer gives a news conference short msft immediately, works every time.
