Promise promise.com has controllers for harddrives. The other option is to get a SCSI card. SCSI supports more than 4 harddrives.

If you have an extra PCI slot you can get an ATA-100 card that will allow up to an extra 4 drives.

If you want raid look at something like this:

Try to get 7200 rpm drives. It does make a difference
