The layoffs announced by the big firms (Chrysler 26,000, Cisco 7000, Compaq 5000, Intel 11,000?, etc,,,,) How long does it take these actions to reverberate through the economy ? I know people expect growth to slow or stop. But how long does it take from the first wave of layoffs to a noticeable effect on aggregate income ? If first and second Q are flat or down, can there be much GDP growth in the US this year ? Hopefully I am not trying to get for free any trade secrets.
