One way to guage the extent of the damage is to see how much mis-allocation of resources has occurred. For instance the Irridium satellites. Or maybe how much extra fiber was laid down. Or 10,000 sq ft houses. These are the real damage. Destroyed paper wealth was never real, anyway. So its evaporation is no biggie, either. However, my own significant reduction in wealth is a real irritant, believe me.
