I like some of the gold mining companies for their earnings prospects. Some of the SA golds are attractive and have great leverage. You can put together a position without much capital at risk. Gold is cheap.

I don't care much for fossil fuel plays. OPEC manipulations make the environment opaque for earnings. You have to be too much of an insider in that bag to get out of it without suffocating. I think OPEC is bluffing about cutting supplies or most of the members know doing that won't work. How can they cut supply while demand weakens? Because they have to?

Japan isn't worth discussing.

The DOW doesn't look good, but it's too dangerous to get involved in any direction.

Until the stock market bottoms and tests one is advised to remain mostly in cash.
