The only problem with deflation is that people lose their jobs, have no money to buy goods, more people lose their jobs...

With stagflation, at least folks are still working, and getting raises to buy goods. You have to go back to the 30's to see real deflation, when much of the country was out of work. It's not something you want to see repeated.
