I hearing that JDSU will state the same statement that Corning just announced this morning.
Corning Inc. warned Monday that earnings will miss Wall Street forecasts this year due to sluggish spending by telephone companies as the economy slows. (full story)

It could happen by the end of the month

Japan Interest Rates May Near Zero
biz.yahoo.com
( These news came out after the market closed.Tomorrow
is a holiday in Japan. Thus we have to wait till Wed.
to see what the effect of zero rates is.
Essentially they are liquefying their Banks,
raising Consumer Prices Index above zero ( deflation )
and trying to avert Bank defaults before Mar 31 year end.
Yen is responding by sligh strengthening and
USDOllar slight weakening.
This will help Greenspan lower rates. He does not want to destabilize Japan ).
There is a tremendous amount of savings ( cash...liquidity ...)
in Japan. All they need to do is give it out ( inflate the
consumer/markets ) and cut Government spending
and the Nikkei will soar.

BTW, NIKKEI is down 70% from peak of 1987.
That equals NASDAQ's 69% decline past 12 months .
Bottom?
