QCOM announced today ( dailynews.yahoo.com ) that they are expecting to see another doubling of voice capacity for their CDMA2000 systems implementation, over and above the doubling operators are getting going from IS-95 (2G) to CDMA2000-1X (3G). The press release seems to imply that the second doubling is only currently expected to be seen if an operator uses handsets with QCOM ASICS. The question that this begs is, what operator will sell handsets with LSI CDMA ASICS if they can double voice capacity with QCOM ASICS? The cacophony that has been created from LSI CDMA ASICS announcements over the last 3 years, is on par with the sound of 1 hand clapping... Think it's going to get better given these circumstances?
