Other gold producers in Zimbabwe include:
Anglogold (35,000 ounces)
Ashanti (produced 110,000oz in 1999 at a cash cost of $164/oz.)
Kinross (34,500oz in 2000 at rising cash costs of $236/oz. )
Lonmin (193,000 ounces in 1999)
Rio Tinto (71 000 oz produced in 2000)

"About 25% of Zimbabwe's gold are derived from panning operations. The Small Scale Miners Association has more than 5,000 members and employs up to 100,000 people on an irregular basis. "

Meanwhile, I was thinking about the article claim of Zimbabwe was the third biggest gold producer in Africa. I'm sure RSA is first, followed by Ghana, then Tanzania may be third (Bulyanhulu + Geita > 1moz) and Mali may be fifth (Sadiola is about 600,000 + Yatella + others ?? ) Zimbabwe is indeed in a very difficult economic and political situation, and probably is now the 6th largest gold producer in Africa.
