CB, sounds like your reading about the Great Depression from the monetarist point of view which didn't come about until the 1960's . The Austrian school predicted the depression before the fact in the 20s. see gold-eagle.com . Dr. R* does a great job of shattering the monetarist case. Ludwig von Mises turned down a top job at Kredit Anstalt in 1928 because he felt it would fail - it did fail in May 1931 triggering a wave of bank failures- Mike
