Tench: Such tests would be purely academic, since SpeedStep reduces the processor down to 1.35V and 700 MHz when the laptop is running off the battery (max TDP is 16.1W at those settings).

Those may be the default SpeedStep settings, but you can always set it to run 1GHz all the time (or so I thought, anyway).

Thanks for the 16.1W @1.35volt number (700 MHz). But testing battery life at 1 GHz is not academic to a gamaholic. Paul said that the Speedstep can be overwridden to allow 1 GHz in battery mode.
