Asensio on CLEC's sector? Watch for networkers next. Winstar Comms (WCII) 4 1/16 -1 15/16 (-32.3%): Short-selling outfit Asensio & Company is back in the news. Latest victim of an Asensio research report is telecom services company WCII. Firm feels that decline in WCII Senior Notes due 2008 to a record low 40 cents on the dollar reflects company's cash and operating crisis. Report also raises concerns about WCII's accounting practices. Not helping matters is disclosure this morning by PSINet (PSIX -74%) that its common stock and debt could fall to distressed levels.
