Jim,"AMD should stick a 1.33 gigHhz Athlon in a notebook"

It is so obvious that I begin to wonder about their
marketing. Just call it "up to 1.33GHz Athlon",
and never specify nor mention the bottom.
I think no one would even notice if it waits at
400-300MHz, even 100MHz will be fine.
And everything will be legally correct.
I think it is "marketing 101".

Jimbo, <AMD should stick a 1.33 gigHhz Athlon in a notebook and power it down to run at 800 Mhz and still call it a 1.33 Mhz. Only run it at 1.33 if ambient temperature is less than freezing.>

So you really think the mobile Pentium III at 1 GHz doesn't actually run at 1 GHz unless the "ambient temperature is less than freezing"? Give me a break.

By the way, you realize that AMD has much more room to "redefine" mobile clock speeds with PowerNow than Intel does with SpeedStep, right?

Better yet, put GPS in it and only run it at 1.33 GHz north of the 50th parallel or in the bay area!
