I honestly think that AMD is a bit of a victim of their own success lately. They really hit a home run with the K7 and t-bird, and now they're trying to figure out what to do for an encore. The Athlon is a great desktop processor, but actually building a realistic notebook solution for it is much more difficult. I honestly don't see AMD being able to offer a compelling notebook solution with an Athlon processor on 0.18 micron, the power requirements for the Athlon are simply too high. Intel has the same problem with the P4, but fortunately for Intel, their sixth generation core had a lot more legs than AMD's (and may still have some legs left yet...).
