"My friends were getting laid off and we were all sitting around drinking
on the day they lost their jobs, so we thought these parties would be a good
idea." says Patti Beron, editor of the community site SFgirl.com.

This is ultimately a good thing. These people are too young to be stuck in a cubicule all day no matter how much money they were making. I graduated college in a recession and none of my friends could get decent jobs. We had the best parties back then. It was a very sad day for me and my friends when we finally realized that the parties we were going to had become more people looking to schmooze work deals than to get laid, a sad day indeed.
