Hi Scott: Interesting on your observations about softness in your area.

I watch for those things, too. One thing I look at is the traffic in airports. I recall back in the mid 70's, when the corporate belt tightened, layoffs, hiring freezes, etc. and the airports had hardly anyone in them. I traveled a lot back then, as I still seem to do, and sometimes I was about the only one walking through the terminal.

Over the weekend, I had to travel out of state to give a talk at a civic thing. Was in 4 different airports for connections, and each was overcrowded with people. Maxed out. Shoulder to shoulder. Also, each of my planes was full. Of course, granted, this was the beginning of spring break for some schools and I did see a lot of kids.

Be that as it may, it didn't seem like those folks were hurting for money yet that I saw this weekend.

On the other hand, I have numerous personal friends whose businesses are getting clobbered, and they are down the food chain, so to speak. Consequently, I've seen the same as you in this regard. Lots of delayed or cancelled projects, and those are working down the line.

I've really been watching the Colorado real estate since I own stuff up there. Doesn't show signs of getting hit just yet in the real estate, but the resorts are down in revenues. If the trickle effect clobbers prices, I'll shift investments there. I did that back in the 80's when folks were giving up properties at such a discount just to get out from under them in those high society arrogance of wealth areas with all those fancy folks mortgaged to the hilt.

Stay tuned.

Rick
