People confuse JFK with Bobby. JFK was the greatest cold warrior of them all. I believe that JFK had as much or more to do with the collapse of the Soviet and Eastern Block than anyone else. There were 50 ICBMs before Kennedy, 1050 ICBM's after. I believe that the SBLM program was started during the Kennedy (or Johnson) Administration. And I think the strategy of MAD was developed in the Kennedy Administration (and the concept of land, air and sea based nuclear delivery systems?). One of Kennedy's platforms for getting elected was that the U.S. suffered from a "missile gap" with the Soviets. Only the son of Joe Kennedy (or Rockefeller) could have come up with a strategy of driving an opponent nation into bankruptcy - trying to keep up with an American Arms buildup. Or for that matter sucker the Soviets into a "race to the moon".
