Re use of memory cards & Palm
There aren't a lot of applications
that chew up huge amounts of memory. I have a couple foreign language
dictionaries that utilize just under 5 MB and a Pocket Streets map
using Microsoft's software application is good for a couple megabytes as well.

I've been thinking about this. You dont actually need to use a whole lot of memory to make it worth your while selling a card along with your application. Even a 3 or 4 MB useage requires an 8Mb (if that is the smallest) card

That means that you can make maybe another $10 on the card as well as the same for your software. And it also makes feasible lots of applications that arent practical at the moment on Palm, because its too difficult, you'd have to uninstall one to use another. Now, you can pop in your street map card to see where to go, then swap it for your Patagonian phrase book when you get there! So I see a whole new class of reference type applications being driven by this swappable memory with the incentive for the developers being a new class of applications, plus double bubble on profits, since they get profit on s/w & card (& shipping if they charge $8 like Palm to ship a postage stamp sized card!)
