huffy,
You are right on the money. I used to have a web site and I emailed market news and updates to 10,000 paying customers.
One of my customers offered me a new Volvo for advance notice of my strategy. One fellow in Long Island called me and reported a 2.5 mil profit on one of my trades. I was invited to NYC by market "movers" several times a week. Companies begged me to profile their company. I was invited to be on CNBC. I was in NYC one evening for a meeting and a notorious street guy told me he was up 12.5 mil on one of my trades, I was up 80,000. I was looked at by the SEC. I spent so much time on the newsletter that I couldn't make any money for me. Much to the disappointment of my customers I dropped out of sight and passed the subscriber list to a trusted individual who continued the letter and web site until all subscriptions had run out.
In the bad year of 2000 I made eight figures. No bankers, no analysist, no lawyers, no insurance, no phone calls, no customers.
So, never take investment advice frome someone who is still working. Never take advice from someone who works a regular job. Never take advice from a broker. Its up to you and you alone. The market is simple but we kill ourselves making it difficult.
Today I made $800.00 in the morning and went to the matinee and lunch with my wife, got home at 5:00 to see the market up and missed opportunities. No problem, there will be more opportunities tomorrow.
I lurk around here looking for ideas but I haven't found one yet.
Good trading to you.
