jambo, further to your comments;

Greenspan possibly shares some blame, in the powerful reproach of perfect hindsight, for allowing too much liquidity in 1998-2000; but if criticised for that, he can't be blamed for removing it rapidly as soon as it proved no longer necessary. And I do recall how he was praised for taking such prompt action over the Asian crisis, then the LTCM debacle.

It's understandable that people would rather not attribute their misfortune to their own misjudgement - but it doesn't make G. the sole or even major cause.
And as even someone as removed as me can see...
