On a more inspiring note, I just learned that on 13 January, 2001 660 law professors took out an ad in the NY Times protesting the partisan action taken by the Supreme Ct. during the election. <<<<<

Of course they are. The legal ass. has paid out a lot of money to get the dems. in their pocket.

Harry,

Just for the record, professors tend to be either liberal or conservative....very few actually have party affiliations. I know that 'cause my Uncle was one of them, and he and his professor cronies would sit around and discuss their non partisanship ad naseum. Frankly, most professors think politics is dirty; they are theoreticians and theoreticians are notorious for not getting dirty.

Forgetting that for a moment, I am firmly convinced that what happened last November, particularly the Sup. Ct action, will go down as a very dark moment in American history. I think that the Sup. CT will be viewed as having acted in a very partisan manner, and I suspect at least this court's future rulings will carry that taint going forward.
