Non-accountability [i.e.independence from political pressure] is the foundation upon which the Federal Reserve system is build. It may be time to abolish it and replace it with some automatic and transparent system of regulating the money supply. What would be horrendous though would be to tinker around it's edges, or give the levers of the money supply to tin pot politicians looking for a microphone and an issue for the next election. Do you really want Hillary mucking with the money supply?
