I would like to build a house in the mountains about 60 miles outside of Colorado Springs. I've looked at a lot of standard plans, but
the ones (hundreds) I've looked at don't accommodate a hillside lot while taking advantage of the view (Pikes Peak). I have come up
with my own design that will work on my lot, and am now at the point of needing to get my fairly rough ideas formalized, along with
a good survey of the lot, and I need to find a builder, preferably a small company since I plan to be very actively involved in the
actual construction. I live in Chicago (of course-just to make it interesting), so this initial search work is a little harder than just
canvassing the neighbors. Obviously, I would love to get a response from someone living in Divide, Colorado whose good friend just
happens to build houses and has a list of satisfied customers with whom I could check (or who I could check with). Barring such a
happy coincidence, has anybody out there been in a similar situation, and could you PM me with any pointers as to how you
proceeded?
TIA

So you want to build a house? You must not be one of us Buy and Hold suckers!

I am planning to build a sort of house myself. Unfortunately, it has only one room and is made of cardboard. But I can change locations at will.
