From briefing.com on an inter-meeting cut...

With that in mind, Briefing.com has been struck by the Fed's statement today that it would "need to monitor developments closely" as that mirrors this statement at the December meeting: "The Committee will continue to monitor closely the evolving economic situation." ... That December statement was followed by an intermeeting cut 15 days later... Also notable is that no such "monitor closely" comment was made after the January meeting, and not coincidentally, the Fed made no intermeeting move... Just an observation which, for the moment, traders care very little about...

Abbey and the PPT have to come out to defend the market very soon here or it'll get really ugly. Covered 1/2 my JNPR at 53 1/2. Greenspan gets to test the market by using a 50pt cut vs a 75 pt and weed out any last bit of speculation. He can also come to the market's rescue with a 50pt cut now vs if he cut 75pts and still got a selloff he'd be in trouble.
