They continued raising rates to offset increased money supply due to the percieved Y2K threat. In the end, it was a bad idea.

Jim: Thanks for sharing...The FED is FRUSTRATING...

IMO, they'll have to cut rates again in the next few weeks --> too much negative news will come from the corporate sector and confidence may erode further...check out this snippet I picked up on another thread...

I thought we were at or near the bottom last week...Maybe I was wrong -- it wouldn't be the first time. Yet, I'm quite fully invested and will think LONG and hard before I do a lot of selling...=)
