The picture says it all....

I would say those robes are looking far too heavy under
the massive granite monoliths. The man himself seems
worn out & broken. I see far too many chinks
in the marble ...the priests and pope of the empire
are swaying unsteadily with increasing force ,
that the " truth " may have always been
greater than themselves.

" The problems of the church have always stemmed from the attempt to promote eternal truths through the agency of mere humans in a shifting world. That task gets no easier. "

I think what we are witnessing is the
beginning of the end for that belief
in the " superiority " of one way, one savior etc.
Human beings need teachers that live
in the present and are not dead
for centuries .

Maybe time to let Jesus down from the cross and let him live again ?

In there summary of " Jesus Dominus " proclomation
or the
Doctrine of the Faith's "Declaration 'Dominus Iesus' on the Unicity and Salvific Universality of Jesus Christ and the Church

They still want to speak in ancient tongues, far removed from the people's understandings.
Essentially they admit to having lively
discussions of other faiths having equally valid
ways of Salvation or paths to enlightenment,
but thru this edict , they once more fall
into their own trap of belief.

There is no other God but Allah , or Jesus or ....?
They become more and more disingenuous...and blinded
by the idea of "Empire" , which will never be.
You can fool some of the people some of the time ....

* The sad thing Solon , when the Pope went to India
a while ago , to preach of the unity of men and
salvation under Jesus Christ , the Indians tolerated it
until it became somewhat offensive ....for in India ,
they regard Christianity as a distorted lesser child
of their own religion .
They (ie Christians)cannot see their own origins ..

As you know the idea of "The Christ " was born in
India centuries before Christianity arrived on the scene.

Unfortunately for Christians , they have no living Masters to teach them .

That is the Key.
