Dow is the last the fall and should also be the first to recover. People start to throw out the blue chips with the bathwater last. >>>>

under the b theory of rotational top since 98 (probably 97), they have been rotating out the losers and in the winners out of all the averages, the dow escaped the bubble part because these doods had a little more sense than to put yoohoo in the dow at 150 or 200 points, the sNp doods are a bunch of crackers, who were pumping overvalued techs in that index, and getting rid of the low p/e stocks.

keeping the mammoth amounts of muny in index funds and quasi index funds (most mutual funds), fully invested.

now if i was LG and thinkin like a criminal, i would wanna keep the dow up as long as possible, to keep the people bullish and fully invested until way into the bear market.

Sometimes book value is a little difficult to pin down in a deflationary environment.
