No moves are seen that would stem the microchip price slide even after Micron Technology Inc. of the United States finished dumping its products, aiming to improve its numbers for the end of its fiscal term in February. Hyundai Electronics Industries Co., Ltd. of Korea is said to offer much lower prices for its 64Mb and 16Mb microchip products. The latest world DRAM price survey by ICIS-LOR showed that the moving average prices of 128Mb DRAMs (PC133, 16Mb x 8) for large users during the 30-day period from Feb. 1-March 2, 2001, were US$5.65 in North America, US$5.48 in Europe and US$5.60 in Asia. ICIS-LOR is based in London, Houston, and Singapore. Compared with the prevailing prices for the previous 30-day period, ending Feb. 23, the prices declined 1.87 percent in North America, fell 7.84 percent in Europe and declined 3.61 percent in Asia. For memory modules, the spot price of 128MB DIMMs (PC133) dropped 5.58 percent to US$34.75 in North America, fell 4.70 percent to US$35.62 in Europe and fell 5.50 percent to US$35.11 in Asia.
