I saw a benchmark the other day that when it went from something like 3DMark2000 to 3Dmark2001 is suddenly went from favoring the Athlon to favoring the P4. Wassup with that?

There's no way an Athlon can match a P4 in 3D. Sounds like it was finally fixed. What do you think?

Jim, <I saw a benchmark the other day that when it went from something like 3DMark2000 to 3Dmark2001 is suddenly went from favoring the Athlon to favoring the P4. Wassup with that?>

I didn't know that. But then again, I remember when Winstone went from 98 to 99, it showed better performance on Pentium over K6-2. And there was no end to the accusations that Intel was controlling the benchmarks.

Not that Winstone scores are really taken very seriously anymore. Like I said before, benchmarking these days is in a very sad state. Except for TPC-C, of course. ;-)
