I dunno. However, they just received a $5 billion order from VZ that needs vendor financing. I wold imagine LU is going to need some more cash to upgrade PCS as well. Then you have CHU to think about next week. Then you have South America to consider once Bell South South America starts upgrading to CDMA2000. LU got most of the contracts in Brazil and has established a great reputation down there. I don't think LU is going to stand back and let their butts get kicked by NT in fiber and wireless anymore. I would think they are going to make a full frontal assault on every wireless project they can get their hands on. Didn't they just get a big switching order from NXTL the other day. If NXTL heads to 1X, LU and MOT are going to be the 2 major infrastructure providers for NXTL. I would say that the unsuccessful attempts to become all things to all niches of the market are over. Spin Offs and asset sales have become the new corporate solution to competing for impossibly low profit margins. Carve out a niche and go for it. Lucent is doing a great job so far.
