Korea Credit Releases Another Bright Outlook for Economy
March 21, 2001 (SEOUL) -- Korea Credit Guarantee Fund, or Shinbo, reported another bright outlook for the Korean economy for the second quarter of this year.

According to a recent BSI (business survey index) conducted by the fund, Korea's small and mid-sized manufacturing companies said their views of the Korean economy have improved significantly.

The overall BSI stood at 145, while the index for the textile, clothing and leather industries soared to 158. Also, the index for the electronics, electricity and telecom industry averaged 152.

Their strong expectations were attributed to an increase in sales and improved liquidity, the Shinbo said.

Small and midsize companies are expected to get back on the right track soon, officials said.

A total of 2,029 producers of small goods in Korea were surveyed.
