"Is there a hint here that desktop Palomino will only work with 760 MP? "

I suspect the hint is that the Palomino, at least at first, is not going to be "value priced". AMD has been making motions to breaking out of Intel's shadow and one of the first truly public moves will be to change to "25% cheaper at the same clock rate" model that they have been using so long.

All versions of the Hammer Family will employ SOI
(silicon-on-insulator) technology for enhanced performance and reduced power consumption. As yet another example of our virtual gorilla strategy, we have entered into an agreement with IBM, the industry leader in SOI technology, relating to the design of SOI devices to enhance the success of the
Hammer Family.

Great news!! The IBM agreement apparently goes all the way to the level of SOI device design. Assuming AMD also licenses IBM's process for the generation of the SOI wafers, they could be in fine shape. I really never believed Moto could/would provide any real SOI expertise.

Re: "Additionally, with the advent of the AMD-760™ MP chipset, which supports two processors, we will have for the first time a compelling solution for workstation and server applications."

Now, just WHEN is this so-called ADVENT ?
