I saw a consumer product line dumped at Costco about a week after a research analyst reported there was a small flaw with the product line and the company announced they were obsoleting the product. I saw this while I was shopping at Costco one time, about a week after the analyst's report. I know I wouldn't have wanted to have been the consumer buying that particular flawed product. So, I've developed my impression about Costco from this experience while shopping there. (Note: the product was unrelated to anything Intel does.) RE: "SECOND the price must be SUBSTANTIALLY lower to Costco. In return COSTCO purchases large supplies" Yes, correct. One time I was at a training session (I forget what the class was even about), and I happened to sit next to a former Buyer from Costco (this is one of the nice things about going to training sessions, you get to meet folks in the industry you may normally not bump into). I was curious about Costco's criteria for buying products and it's exactly as you had said: they sell large quantities at a substantially lower price. But I think that end-lifed products also fit this bill based upon what I saw when I was shopping there, which isn't at all to say that they don't have quality products, because for the most part, even end-lifed products are quality and more importantly, I agree with you their focus is on quality products. But, yes, I very much agree they are known for getting really good, new, cool quality products. However, that doesn't deny that people might be more willing to sell 'excess' inventory at a discount, in large quantities at substantially lower prices. So, I think end-lifed products and excess inventory also find there home there, in addition to really cool, new, good products they mainly carry. I agree they have a reputation for carrying really cool products. And I think HP fits this cool category. But was hoping the HP product didn't fit into the "excess inventory" category. Regards, Amy J
