This is a Groundhog Day market. Everything is going back to '97-'98. Even COMS wants to reprise the competition with CSCO et al.

So now they are back to an enterprise sales driven company? why did they dump L3 switching to Extreme then?

The competitive landscape has changed dramatically in the last few months. 3Com's competitors no longer have the ability to print free money (shares) and buy technology and top talent for "free". Over the next few months they will have to face many of the problems that 3Com has already faced and, IMO, is overcoming. Wait till Cisco starts reporting losses, right around the time 3Com is coming out of the profitability woods.

Audrey was EB'S brainchild. It didn't take long for Claflin to drop it. Where you see a strategy flop, I see the ability to make tough decisions quickly, and shake up the organization -- something 3Com needs desperately after the EB years.
