there are workarounds for margin--futures, for example. and options. with a portfolio of 100% calls, i was able to speculate in wild clownish fashion without using margin. i used to think margin was for conservative people who limited their exposure to 200% of capital. LOL
that is an excuse Gspan has given, anyway.
