Absolutely. If fact I suspect that Daschle and Gephardt would have backed off already except that their foam-at-the-mouth left-wing supporters are still driven by hate from the 2000 election (imagine pulling a bank heist off, only to get home and find the loot bag full of pennies) and will just as readily punish them for their compromise, since they can't beat the administration at the game of politics. They will probably hold out just long enough to avoid being scapegoats for their own "side", then do what they have to do.

And their party will probably get whupped in '02 despite their best efforts...
