LUNDIN OIL: LUNDIN OIL WELCOMES GOVERNMENT ENQUIRY

Lundin Oil welcomes Swedish Foreign Minister Anna Lindh’s statement that she wants a Government
enquiry into the company’s operations in Sudan. Lundin Oil has also tried to get in contact
with Mr. Gerhart Baum, the United Nation’s rapporteur for human rights in Sudan, in order to
offer assistance in the efforts to shed light on the alleged violations of human rights in
connection with the construction of a road to Lundin Oil’s exploration drilling site in
southern Sudan.

According to reports in the media Swedish Foreign Minister Anna Lindh is contemplating an
enquiry into Lundin Oil’s activities in Sudan. Anna Lindh referred to an enquiry in 1999 by
Canadian authorities of the Canadian company Talisman’s operations in Sudan.

“We welcome all initiatives to clarify the situation in Sudan. The Canadian enquiry has become
an important part of the code of conduct for international oil companies operating in Sudan. We
therefore welcome a similar initiative from the Swedish government,” says Adolf Lundin,
chairman of the Board of Lundin Oil AB.

“Recent allegations of human rights violations are in disagreement with perception of Lundin
Oil’s employees working in Sudan. Since the allegations are very serious we are using every
effort to investigate these events.”

Lundin Oil AB is a Swedish independent oil company with exploration and production activities
in eight different countries worldwide. The Company is listed on NASDAQ (symbol “LOILY”) and
the Stockholm Stock Exchange (symbol “LOILB”).
