Hi David,

The Prism is running on the 3.5 OS. 320x320 should be a feature of the latest OS. Sure that the processor matters, but it may not matter as much if external hardware is used to take care of the display. Here is some literature on the LCD control unit of the Dragonball processor:

LCD Controller
Software programmable screen size (up to 640*512) to
support single (Non-Split) monochrome/ color STN panels
Capable of direct driving popular LCD drivers/modules from
Motorola, Sharp, Hitachi, Toshiba etc.
Support up to 16 grey levels out of 16 palettes
Utilize system memory as display memory
Interface data width is 1,2,4 or 8-bit
LCD contrast control using 8-bit PWM
Support Self-Refresh LCD module

I don't know if the above capability is enough to drive a 16bit 320x320 display, but the LCD controller can use external LCD drivers, which is a possibility of what Sony is doing. Also. Motorola is known for mixing up the cores in its micro-controllers, so it is all possible that Motorola has done a new Dragonball for the Palm OS to support high res color display.

Let's wait, and we will know.

Regards,

Khan
