Refugio is a perfect example of a mine that should be closed. When Bema/AMAX was running it using contract mining it was a disaster. After Kinross acquired AMAX they went to self mining and managed to keep it going (barely), which should be enough to pay off the loans and make a tiny profit. Refugio is an indication of what Placer/Bema/Arizona Star faces if they ever decide to develop Cerro Casale, located in the same general area. It probably need $350 gold to be a viable project.
