yeppers...my wife is a UNC grad...oops, I take that back...her engineering degree is actually from UNCC, but she did attend UNC for 3 years...hers sister is a UNC grad and we have many friends from the area....In fact, Mi sis in law, lives in the triangle area and funny enough, she was with an outside firm and was doing contract work for IBM. Recently, IBM hired her, and a hwole boaload of others onto their full time staff. Things in the triangle area really are not that bad....not hearing much about layoff's at all.......houses sell as soon as they hit the market.....even here in charlotte.....a for sale sign one day,.....sold the next.......

I still say this is not indicative of the economy. I personally have noticed alot of spending slowdown, my household included. we go out for dinner less, see less movies and etc, etc.....as far as purchasing toys....heck, that used to be my favorite hobby...now we spend on climbing gear and thats about it.......I have also noticed alot of people talking...folks putting off their retirement's and etc, etc........when you walk in to the bolwing ally and all the blue collared folks are talking the stock market, then you know something is up, and that is what I am seeing.......anyway, who knows how long this will last.....me personally, I am off margin, but still fully vested.....heck, I didnt sell jdsu or sunw at $100, I aint gonna sell now at $20 or $17....I'lllet it ride and hope my health allows me to see it appreciate one day <ggg>...additionally, I wont pull a "BUY THIS MARKET", but I will say that the prudent investor that is slowly and cautiously cost averaging in to some quality beaten downs, may not be a bad idea, IF your time frame is long term......I think we need to take what allenallias says to heart......this could last a long while, but then again, maybe we rebound sooner then many think....after all, naz can only fall another 1800 points, and my guess is it doesnt get close to zero....500 would be a calamity, 1000 very possible....but still.......if your being cautious and buying the right companies, it very well may pay off doen the road....only time will tell.......good luck and happy hunting
