There are reasons why I fear the resemblance to marriage. When it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, chances are it is indeed a duck. These civil unions aim to cause the state to recognize “households” in virtually the same way marriage does. And they have no basis in who we are. So then homosexual unions and practically any other perversion of human identity are made possible by the logic that makes your civil unions possible. It is just another Pandora's box opening upon society.
