Hi Jdaasoc; Re: "... Intel has never deviated from their full support for RMBS technology."

Fantasy Island! So why did Intel grant licenses to 3 (4 if you count VIA) companies that are making DDR chipsets for the P4? Isn't that, like, a deviation from "full support?"

Re: "It is clear that in last week Micron has abandoned the JEDEC defense and is going to try to paint themselves as unwitting dupes of an Intel plot to control the memory market."

This is the same sort of logic that Rambus longs used when they saw that Infineon was pursuing the JEDEC defense. They said that the inescapable conclusion was that Infineon lawyers were admitting that the patents were valid. As the events of the past few weeks proved, that conclusion was wrong. Infineon's prior art defense has already succeeded, and their JEDEC defense is still holding together. (Did you notice that Rambus haven't even tried to get Infineon's attorney / client rights revoked? Or add a RICO adder to the case?)

The fact is that good lawyers look at every avenue when putting together a case. So evidence that they are pursuing one thread is not evidence that they think that their other threads won't work. They charge by the hour, remember?

P.S. I have no idea what Micron is looking for. My suspicions are that they are just making trouble for Intel and Rambus, but don't they have to show some sort of reason before they go off on fishing expeditions?
