Any chance of a moderated thread on Yahoo?I know Yahoo has a less than stellar reputation but I used to visit the Cisco thread there and it was as tame or tamer than the one on SI.

Of course with me not posting on SI Cisco any longer it automatically got milder. :)

infopop.com

Has a good chat format. Lots of sites that use their product. Someone want to set up a site?

I frequent a fairly new message board called investorshub. investorshub.com

It is still under construction but operational. New servers coming online soon but currently can be very slow. Free with moderated threads and private and public text-chats (down at the present time). Run by former SIer Fatt Matt. IMO it is promising.

I still have a good collection of email addresses in case of emergency.

I frequent a yahoo club which is an invite only deal so there is no yahooligan participation

clubs.yahoo.com

Downside is invite clubs are harder to find. Perhaps starting it as a public and getting a feel for distractors (if there are any). If it gets bad, take it private.

Anyway, it seems like yahoo would be as immune to shut down as any out there.

more on the alternate site for the computer learning thread....

i selected the investorshub (ihub) site that tc recommended.

investorshub.com

we're now set up there with a functional computer learning thread, in an environment that very closely resembles si. if we all wake up one morning to ACCESS DENIED screens, there'll be no need for concern.

i checked out yahoo as best as i could. it's just too complex, too different... and i also checked ck's rec, but opted for ihub as our best bet.

i hope i made a choice everyone can live with. it's a breeze to register over there.

and i'm still hanging on to a master email list, if you will, similar to what mag noted. a couple more folks pm'd me their email. you can do that if you like and i'll hang onto them in case we get shut out of this venue.

(as noted in my previous post, yes, we set up a thread on marketspirit, but it's down for the time being.)

:)
