Sources: Reward in Jovin murder case to be increased

(WTNH, Mar. 26, 2001 6:00 PM) _ Sources tell News Channel 8 the reward offered for information in the murder of Yale student Suzanne Jovin will be increased.

New Haven police and other key players in the case are planning to hold a news conference tomorrow afternoon. News channel 8 has learned the announcement will be about increasing reward money for information leading to an arrest.

Police found Jovin stabbed to death in December, 1998. Her murder has never been solved.

There is currently a $50,000 reward being offered by the state.

The only suspect ever named by police is former Yale professor James Van de Velde. Van de Velde has never been charged in the case.

<<YDN: Courant corrects Van de Velde stalker story; >>

Hi Jeff -- I can only be for online for a sec. now. .. thanks for keeping us informed on the case -- and the Dartmouth ones.

Really glad to read about the retraction . It's a nano drop in the proverbial bucket ... but Jim deserves it -- and it will help his case { this long after the damage should be a + for him, not the Courant!}

Regards,
Carol
