I can't really speculate. When I was using QCharts/QFeed I found that QFeed generally was more reliable than QCharts. Very fast markets QFeed would slow down but not stop.

I think your uninstall/reinstall process at least ensured that you had all the right bits and pieces and nothing left over from previous installations, perhaps that's the magic you needed.
