PW and all,

I seem to remember you mentioning that you were running dual processors. How do these stack up to high speed single processors?

My wife is a graphic artist and has a two Pentium lll 500mhz setup at work. She puts together a mail order catalogue. She's pushing for me to spring for a dual Plll 933mz that I found on eBay so she can do work more easily at home. It's more power than I think I'd ever use, but I do run lots of programs simultaneously, like several browser windows, Interactive Brokers java trading interface, QCharts with many chart windows, Excel with a DDE link, and occasionally Microsoft Access. So maybe the dual system wouldn't be as much overkill as I think? I had been considering a single processor in the 850 - 1200 mhz range. I was thinking this would be more than adequate for my trading needs and for her Adobe photoshop and In Design requirements. Now I've complicated the selection by finding this dual processor computer.

I stand confused. I haven't been able to find much in the way of comparisons between dual and single processor systems searching the web. I would appreciate any input from the thread.

Esteban
