Whether this benefits children is really difficult to say. It may appear to benefit them on the surface, but I think not. Polygamy can offer no more benefit to my children than the helpers I employ in my home. I get the help, but I do not curse my home by having sex with them. I say curse my home because we must consider the strife that very frequently accompanies polygamous familes. Women, even in cultures where polygamy has been practiced for centuries, often have quite painful and even visceral reactions to polygamy, and must suffer polygamous marriage because that is "just the way it is." I hardly think this is a benefit to children. The fact is, children are the biological result of their parents. This means their parents have a natural tie and responsibility to care for the children. It seems possible to me that humanity as we know it may have come from several males and females of different species. Well, by definition members of a species are seamlessly interbreeding. So whether humanity ultimately originated of multiple species is not of great import to our discussion here. The fact is, humanity as we know it seamlessly interbreeds and is thus one species perpetuated only by a one male/one female biological reality. All humans are us, and almond shaped eyes and yellow skin have literally as much logic value as blue eyes and blond hair. Nature simply does not give a rip about our superficial differences. It cares only about life, and will take any two humans to get it-- as long as they are exactly one man and exactly one woman. I really must go my friend. Catch you on the flip.
