If you are in Silicon Valley, there is the Dulles corridor (AOL), a lot of digital businesses along Interstate 270, and the areas around the University of Maryland (big research university) and the University of Virginia. If you don't want the DC area, there is the Research Triangle down in North Carolina (Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill). Anywhere in here would be roughly equivalent to Northern California, but wildly different. The politics are mostly Republican or moderate/conservative Democrat, except for the District proper........
